Today, The Washington Times ran a very misguided op-ed about biosimilars, which claims that a 12 year exclusivity period for biologics (which received strong bipartisan support in both the House and Senate) is “unnecessarily lengthy” and would deprive patients access to safe, effective and lower-cost medicines.
If that were really the case, then why would the measure have received support from groups like ALS Association, Alliance for Aging Research, Association of American Universities, the AIDS Institute, National Minority AIDS Council, Children’s Tumor Foundation, National Kidney Foundation, and Vietnam Veterans of America?
We encourage you to read the op-ed for yourself and voice your opinion in the comments section.
