Sir Elton John gave a moving keynote speech at the 2009 Bio International Convention today about the critical need for advances in the treatment of HIV/AIDS.
To support Sir Elton’s efforts, the Biotechnology Industry Organization has pledged a generous donation of $150,000 to the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Please make a donation to help match it!

After the Sustainability Summit yesterday, we caught up with Andrew Young, former United States Ambassador to the UN. Check out what he has to say about the importance of biotech.
Today, we caught up with Arthur Boni, PhD, Director of the Donald H Jones Center for Entrepreneurship at the Tepper School of Business. We spoke with Dr. Boni about the topics covered in the 2-day Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Bootcamp that he co-hosted at the 2009 Bio International Convention and what impact the economic crisis had on the focus of the session.
We’ve been hard at work setting up our Convention booth the past few days, and it’s looking pretty good…if I do say so myself. After the ribbon cutting tomorrow morning, make sure you stop by the BIO Pavilion to check it out. We’ll be having giveaways throughout the week, and we’ll also be doing short interviews to post here on IAmBiotech.org and our sister site WhatCanBiotechDoForYou.com.
So, stop by, grab some fun swag, and tell your story. We’ll upload the video and send you a link to share with your friends and colleagues.

This morning, before the start of the sustainability summit, BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood and Fmr. U.S. U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young appeared on Fox Business. They talked about what’s on tap over the next few days at Bio09 in Atlanta and discussed a few projects going on worldwide with the help of biotechnology.
