ADDITIONAL RESOURCES:

Whether you’re just starting out in the industry or you are looking for a change of pace, there are a number of online resources that will help you navigate your job search.

  • Beaker: Beaker has a pretty solid job board as well as career advice videos and company profiles.
  • IguanaBio: IguanaBio also has a job board, and each morning they post a docket of new positions…plus, while you’re there, you can also get the latest financial news and industry gossip.
  • Epernicus: The job hunt is all about networking, and Epernicus is the go-to spot for the science community. Post a profile, connect with old colleagues, and build your career network.
  • LinkedIn: When it comes to online networking and career building, LinkedIn is still the biggest community across a number of industries. Just a quick search of “biotech” will show you over 400 groups you can join to get your network started. If it seems overwhelming, start out by finding your contacts (it can import them directly from your email) and seeing which groups they are a part of. Each group has a discussion board, news feed and job board.
  • ResearchGATE: This site has been called “the LinkedIn for scientists”. It has some great tools for networking and collaboration between researchers around the world.
  • BioSpace: BioSpace is another great resource. They have the requisite job board, but they also go a step further, with career fairs and comprehensive regional information through their Hotbed Campaigns.
  • State Bio Associations: If you know the city/ies or state/s where you’d like to work, state bioscience associations are another great resource. States with more established bioscience sectors – like Massachusetts and California (southern, northern) – tend to have more career resources, as you might imagine. Though emerging biotech hubs – like Georgia – are quickly catching up. For a full directory of state bioscience associations, visit BIO’s website.

Also, make sure you check out our “People” section, where you’ll find interviews with CEOs and other industry leaders about how they built their careers.

Hopefully these resources help get you started. We’ll continue to add to this page in the coming months, so make sure you join IAmBiotech to stay up to date.
